Jacqui Law

I am an accredited practioner psychotherapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and an accredited EMDR practitioner with the EMDRA. I have worked in adult psychological services, clinical and learning disability services, the Scottish Government forensic and research system and as a university lecturer and researcher.

The psychological therapies I provide are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). I have treated individuals in clinical, community and forensic settings for the NHS and Scottish Government, in addition to community based clients, I have experience of working with people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and offenders both within and out with forensic settings.

I have substantial experience of working with all anxiety disorders and am an Anxiety UK approved psychotherapist. The anxiety disorders I have worked with and treated, include panic disorder, specific phobias, generalised anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post traumatic distress disorder.  Other disorders I have successfully worked with include, depression, chronic depression, trauma from physical and/or sexual abuse, childhood neglect, complex trauma, and dissociation.

For seven years I was part of a Scottish Government Agency research team, establishing and managing the team dedicated to the research, development, and the evaluation of prisoner intervention programmes. These focused on the treatment of anger, substance abuse, violent and sexual offending.

I have experience in providing psychological reports, for use in Civil and Criminal cases, to law professionals across Scotland. I also have expertise in the preparation of risk assessments of violent and sexually violent offenders.


My main research interest is sexual and non sexual offenders with learning disabilities and I have a number of peer reviewed publications in this area and two book chapters (please see References).  My other publications relate to prisoner intervention programme research and development.  If you require these references please let me know.
